Sharepoint design for schools

SharePoint Design for Schools is aimed at schools who are considering or have purchased Microsoft SharePoint to develop their Learning Platform. It will not explain step by step what you need to do, nor will it attempt to anticipate all of the questions you may have along the way. However, it is a result of the real life experience of setting up a wide ranging SharePoint portal in a large comprehensive school, used by all students (Years 7 to 13), staff (teaching and non teaching), and parents.

SharePoint Design for Schools attempts to highlight some of the areas where information was lacking during this process, support in these areas, and provide plenty of pointers to further help and guidance – areas which we as a school could have done with more information on at the time!

In addition, SharePoint Design for Schools includes a case study of the SharePoint portal implemented at the school, with details on the structure, component areas, facilities developed and so on. Of particular interest may be the section on the implementation of Capita’s SharePoint Learning Gateway web parts, enabling staff, students and parents to view live data from the school’s SIMS.net database.
